'scuse Me While I Kill This Guy: #1

"That’s right. Family of assassins. I came from a line of murderers dating back to ancient Greece. Mafia? Puhleeeese. Ninjas? Amateurs. Illuminati? How pedestrian. My ancestors had invented the garrote, ice pick, and arsenic."

Leslie Langtry has a wicked sense of humor, as evidenced in her series about a family of assassins. This is not only the first book alphabetically in my Kindle, but is the first book in Lantry's quirky series.

'Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy (all the titles in the series are take offs on rock classics) is a delicious blend of a single mom living an  everyday suburban life, while handling her large and diverse family, a network of secret assasins. Gin Bombay is longing for romance and struggling with difficult family members. You have to roll with the outlandish concept of a family of assasins, who have become fabulously rich through centuries of murder.

Some will find the whole premise too much to take. Others will find the humor too broad, too obvious. Me? I devoured the series. Found it full of campy humor, clever dialog, and likable characters. Not for everyone, I admit.

Clearing the underbrush

I was an early adopter of the Kindle. First, I enthusiatically loaded all my favorite classics, Austen,  Dickens, Alcott. Then classics I should read: War and Peace, Moby Dick, Les Mis. Then bestsellers,  recommendations by Amazon, stuff people recommended, series books...... The Kindle library is huge and I keep adding. A few years ago, I said enough-no more new books until I clear the ones I have. Piffle. I keep adding. So, new resolution.

I will have to review 10 books in alphabetical order of title, NO SKIPPING, before I can add a new book. I will, of course, devise all kinds of schemes to get around THIS ABSOLUTE RULE.
